Brits get scent of Becks
From The Sun:

Style icon ... Beckham

By ERICA DAVIES
Fashion Editor

DAVID Beckham's aftershave will finally go on sale in Britain from
Monday after months of legal wrangling.
Makers Coty have agreed a deal which gives pharmacy chain Superdrug
exclusive rights to sell the scent.

The aftershave — called David Beckham Instinct — was launched in
mainland Europe and the Far East this month.

Coty — who already have licensed perfumes for stars Celine Dion,
Sarah Jessica Parker and Jennifer Lopez — had no plans to sell it in
Britain.

Tim Hughes of Superdrug said: "When we heard that we had to ask
ourselves why.

"Our customers see Beckham as much as a style icon as a great
footballer."

Superdrug have hired extra security guards for the launch.

Becks is paid £5million a year as a Real Madrid ace and England
captain, but earns even more than that from endorsements.

His Footwork Productions company turns over around £1million a month.

Croatian David Beckham' set for Liverpool?
From Fans FC:

11:40 11/11/2005

Liverpool are interested in signing a player dubbed the Croatian
David Beckham.

Rafael Benitez is eager to add more quality to his squad during the
New Year transfer window, and 23-year-old Dario Srna is believed to
be one of his top targets.

The right midfielder is currently starring for Shakhtar Donetsk, and
after having a bid rejected for him in August, the Reds are tipped
to move again in January.

"Liverpool came in for him in August, but Shakhtar president Rinat
Akhmetov decided against it," said his agent Igor Stimac, formerly a
star player for Derby County.

"He is a very rich man and obviously does not need the money, so we
will have to see. We think he would be very good for Liverpool. He
plays down the right and enjoys breaking down the right.

"He cannot do for Shakhtar at the moment as they are playing him in
defence. He is very similar to David Beckham, he likes to attack
down that side and put lots of crosses into the box."

Asian champions Al Ittihad are planning to bust open the transfer
market by signing a big-name player for next month's Club World
Championship.
The two players the Saudi Arabian giants have in mind are Barcelona
striker Samuel Eto'o and AC Milan midfielder Kaka.

Al Ittihad president Mansour Al Balawi is one of the richest men in
the Middle East and is prepared to offer a small fortune for the ten-
day loan of one of the two stars.

Al Balawi has already splashed out on former Middlesbrough striker
Joseph Desire Job and ex-Inter Milan star Mohammed Kallon to lead his
attack.

Subject: Ezquerro Not Interested in Athletic Return

Santiago Ezquerro has stated that he is not going to go back to
Athletic Bilbao on loan only five months after leaving San Mamés
following reports that a deal could be done in January.
The Basque Country club are keen to bolster their squad after a
dreadful start to the season that has seen them win only one of
their opening 11 matches.

Javier Clemente has taken over at Athletic for the third time in his
career and pinpointed Ezquerro as one of the men he believes could
help the team out of its current predicament.

Ezquerro though has no intention of returning, despite being limited
to only six appearances as a substitute for the Blaugrana this term.

The former Atlético and Mallorca forward claims he has been told by
Frank Rijkaard and Txiki Begiristain that he is an integral part of
the squad.

"They have made it clear that they want me,"he said."I really want
to keep working at Barcelona and I am just hoping to make my mark
and be given more and more chances to show what I can do here.

"Joining Barca was the best decision and I do not regret making the
move for one moment."

Ezquerro is sad to see his former club languishing at the foot of
the table, but insisted that the can do without his help.

"It does make me sad and angry,at the same time,to see the club
suffering like this,"he said."But I have no thoughts of going back."

Subject: Two-Month Stop For Van Bommel

Barcelona have suffered a blow with the news that Marc van Bommel will
be out for eight weeks after tearing a ligament in his left ankle.
The Dutchman did the damage during a training session with the
national team and an MRI scan today showed that he has torn a ligament
and damaged two others.

Barca's website has announced that van Bommel has been advised not to
fly back to Catalonia because his knee is still swollen.

Van Bommel has not been a regular starter for Barca this season, but
was still seen as a major player in coach Frank Rijkaard's plans.

Real Sociedad are the latest to be linked with a move for Barcelona
striker Maxi Lopez.
The Argentine does not currently figure in the plans of coach Frank
Rijkaard, and the Catalan club are keen to send him out on loan when
the transfer window reopens in December.

Real Betis have been associated with the player, while Deportivo La
Coruna have denied any interest.

Sociedad are the latest name to be mentioned and the fact that
director Jose Mari Bakero is a close friend of Barca technical
secretary Txiki Begiristain has heightened speculation.
